I'm old enough to remember a time when a stat boosting or advantage granting cash shop item in a FREE TO PLAY KOREAN mmorpg was controversial in the community forums. ![]() Microtransactions have no place in full priced games, and if they are there, they should at most be entirely cosmetic. There should be ZERO question, zero doubt that a BUY TO PLAY game, a full priced retail game, is NOT IN ANY WAY (in no game mode) even a little pay to win. It looks like they already got us accepting this as normal then?Ĭall me old fashioned, but for me the problem is the fact that we can even have this debate in the first place. I read a lot of arguments on both sides, but honestly what surprised me is that the arguments were Yes/No on pay to win, but very few people brought up the fact that we are now arguing about microtransactions having a direct effect in game play of a fully priced game. ![]() While waiting at the line, I looked up the game, and found several posts on these forums about people complaining that one of the game modes (Warzone) can be considered somewhat pay to win (ish) - or at least pay for an advantage. I was at Target today and was really thinking about buying Halo 5 Guardians, put it in cart, was ready to check out. ![]()
